The Single Market has become part of people’s lives, barriers have been brought down and rules simplified. Nevertheless it is not always running as smoothly as it should. To bridge the remaining gaps, a variety of tools have been developed, at EU and Member State level. These tools are put to use at all stages of the governance cycle. They aim to:


The governance of the Single Market is the set of mechanisms, rules and practices to design, implement, apply and enforce the Single Market regulatory framework. In other words, the way in which the Single Market works in practice and delivers concrete results.
